Gucci Launches Equestrian Line for Summer 2012

0 Comments 🕔07. Jun 2012

Fashion house Gucci is expanding their reach into an equestrian line for summer 2012.

After two years in a row designing an exclusive equestrian collection for Charlotte Casiraghi, the granddaughter of Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, luxurious fashion house, Gucci, has finally released Gucci “Forever Now” ad campaign featuring for the very first time, the Princess of Monaco herself.

It’s also been announced last year that Charlotte Casiraghi will be the ambassador of new Gucci Riding Line collection (here), titled Forever Now, which over the next two years she will be captured by four of the world’s most prominent fashion photographers to honor Gucci’s renowned icons of legacy.

As for the first campaign presented here, it strongly tells the story of Gucci’s signature green and red stripe, showing Ms. Casiraghi posing against the backdrop of a stable, behind the lenses of German photographer Peter Lindbergh. As the 25-year-old princess looks amazingly beautiful and elegant, these first sets of images show perfectly a youthful sophistication of a royal bloodline she carries, which at the same time the pictures also evoke founder Guccio Gucci’s fascination with the art of riding.

Inspired by the canvas girth strap of a horse’s saddle, Guccio Gucci introduced for the very first time the green and red emblematic stripe by applying these colors to the trim and detailing of luggage and travel trunks in the Fifties. Since then the stripe with its unmistakable colors has become an immediate visual reference to the House of Gucci. (via)

Since 2010, Frida Giannini, the Creative Director of Gucci, has exclusively designed a special equestrian wardrobe for Charlotte Casiraghi as part of the brand’s equestrian collection. And today this legacy continues with Frida Giannini’s luxurious equestrian designs for the princess, who will also be the protagonist of the House’s new “Forever Now” advertising campaign series. Last year Frida named Charlotte Casiraghi as one of her 15 top fashion icons, saying she is, ‘the modern royal whose effortless elegance defies contemporary style.’

Throughout its colorful and successful history, Gucci has created a strong relationship with the glamorous equestrian world, and Charlotte Casiraghi was chosen to be one of the most iconic leading roles for the brand. And I couldn’t agree more with this decision, since Charlotte Casiraghi has been perfectly embodying the brand’s collection up till now with her graceful royal beauty and elegance
